ABOUT

THE INSTRUCTOR

Victoria is originally from San Francisco but now lives in Sacramento, California. She has been practicing Zumba dance for over 10 years after she noticed there was a need for men and women to come together to have fun, not just exercising but for dancing which to her is a combination of fun. There’s always great energy and smiles when doing Zumba dance. There’s a lot of cardio as well as toning exercises. She feels great joy by just giving back what she knows and having people feel good about themselves as much as she has done for over 10 years of Zumba.

Zumba was founded in 1998 by Pérez in Cali, Colombia. Pérez, an aerobics instructor, forgot to bring his regular music to his aerobics class.  In Zumba, your arms and legs are generally moving in different directions so it requires a great deal of coordination.  Repeated practice improves coordination and helps you feel more comfortable moving your body.

You not only do you get aerobic benefits (it really gets your heart rate up), you also get anaerobic benefits – the kind that help you maintain a good cardiovascular respiratory system.

You may feel sore in places you never knew existed, but it gets results. Zumba targets lots of different muscle groups at once for total body toning. Designed as a combination of salsa and aerobics, there’s no right or wrong way to do Zumba. As long as you move to the beat of the music, you’re participating in the exercise.

Boosts your heart health and Helps you de-stress

You not only do you get aerobic benefits (it really gets your heart rate up), you also get anaerobic benefits – the kind that help you maintain a good cardiovascular respiratory system.  Turning your attention to dance, and away from the daily grind, is a great way to relieve stress. Studies show that exercise is very effective at reducing fatigue, improving alertness and concentration, and enhancing overall cognitive function.
